👋 What’s Up Wentzville!

Happy Wednesday, Wentzville! 🍂

The weekend is bringing big trucks, outdoor movies, live music, and a few ways to get creative. But don’t let the weekend hog all the attention: there’s a nature-minded book club on Thursday, stargazing on Friday, and Halloween cookies on Wednesday.

Here’s what’s up around Wentzville this week!👇

📅 Events Around Wentzville

Thursday, October 15

📍 St. Gianna’s Father Elliott Hall, 450 East Highway N, Wentzville
🕐 10 AM–6 PM Thursday and Friday; Saturday 9 AM–noon

A local quilt show full of color, careful handiwork, and the kind of detail that makes you wonder how anyone has the patience to sew a straight line, let alone an entire quilt. It runs through Saturday, so there’s room to work it into your schedule.

📍 Broemmelsiek Park, 1795 Hwy. DD, Defiance, MO 63341
🕐 6–8 PM

A book club with an outdoorsy twist: this month’s discussion is The Darkness Manifesto by Johan Eklöf, with a nature hike if weather cooperates. Ages 12 and up; preregistration is requested..

📍 Cottle Village, 6470 State Route N, Cottleville
🕐 6:30–9 PM

Cottle Village is bringing a little Halloween magic to the big outdoor LED screen with The Nightmare Before Christmas. Grab some popcorn, browse the themed food and drinks, and settle in for a movie that somehow works for both Halloween and Christmas. Admission is free, so Jack Skellington can be your evening’s entertainment without costing you a thing.

Friday, October 16

📍 Crossroads Arts Center, 310 W. Pearce Blvd., Wentzville
🕐 1–4 PM

Want to learn, practice, or just get in a few rounds with other people? Crossroads hosts open-play Mah Jong on the third Friday of each month. The suggested contribution is $1 to help cover rent.

📍 Heartland Park, 2566 W. Meyer Road, Wentzville
🕐 5:30–8:30 PM

Food trucks, fall fun, and Hocus Pocus under the stars? Wentzville is wrapping up its outdoor movie season with a pretty good Friday-night lineup. The festivities start at 5:30 PM, with the movie beginning around 6:30. Bring blankets or lawn chairs, come hungry, and leave pets at home except for service dogs.

📍 Cottleville Wine Seller, 5314 State Route N, St. Charles, MO 63304
🕐 6–10 PM

If live music is more your speed than a Halloween event, 5th Gear is on the Wine Seller’s Friday schedule. Check the venue calendar for any last-minute updates.

📍 Broemmelsiek Park Astronomy Viewing Area, 1795 Highway DD, Defiance, MO
🕐 7 PM until the observing session ends

Trade the screen in your hand for the much bigger one overhead. The Astronomical Society of Eastern Missouri hosts public stargazing at the park’s viewing area. Sky conditions matter, so check the organizer or county calendar before leaving.

Saturday, October 17

📍 The Park at New Melle Lakes, 400 Foristell Road, New Melle, MO 63365
🕐 7–9:30 AM

For early risers who prefer trails to treadmills, this county parks program is a chance to get moving outdoors. Check the county registration page for the route, eligibility, and remaining spaces.

📍 Frankie Martin’s Garden, 5372 St. Charles Street, Cottleville
🕐 9 AM–noon

Big trucks, flashing lights, and plenty of buttons kids will desperately want to push (even if they can’t). Frankie Martin’s Garden is bringing together fire trucks, police cars, ambulances, SWAT vehicles, tractors, dump trucks, and more for an up-close look at the vehicles that keep things moving. Admission is by donation, with a suggested minimum of $10. Proceeds benefit the Karen Weidinger Foundation.

📍 The Iron Turbine, 65 Eagle Fork Lane, Moscow Mills, MO 63362
🕐 2–5 PM (Kelli Renee); 6–9 PM (The Seconds)

It’s a double feature for live-music fans at The Iron Turbine! Catch Kelli Renee in the afternoon, then stick around or come back for The Seconds that evening. Two bands, one venue, and a Saturday that practically plans itself. The Iron Turbine is 21+.

Sunday, October 18

📍 Spring Bend Park, 2380 Upper Bottom Road, St. Charles, MO 63303
🕐 8–9:30 AM

A quieter way to spend Sunday morning: join a guided walk and see which birds are active this time of year. Confirm registration and meeting-point details with the county.

Monday, October 19

📍 The Park at New Melle Lakes, 400 Foristell Road, New Melle, MO 63365
🕐 10–11:30 AM or 12:30–2 PM

Fall foliage is lovely from the shore, but how about seeing it from the water? Paddle out on New Melle Lakes for a different view of the season and a little outdoor adventure. The program is open to ages 12 and up and costs $10 per person. Advance registration is required, and the outing is weather dependent.

Tuesday, October 20

📍 Indian Camp Creek Park, 2679 Dietrich Road, Foristell, MO
🕐 10 AM–noon

Forget matches and lighters for a morning: learn how to make fire the old-fashioned way with flint and steel. This hands-on program covers traditional fire-starting techniques, including making charcloth, and wraps up with warm drinks and s’mores. Participants even take home their own flint and steel. Open to ages 12 and up; $15 per person, with advance registration required.

Wednesday, October 21

📍 Cottle Village, 6470 State Route N, Cottleville
🕐 6–8 PM

If your idea of Halloween fun involves frosting, sprinkles, and cookies that are almost too cute to eat, this one’s for you. Quaint Little Bakery leads a hands-on class where you’ll decorate four Halloween-themed cookies. The $35 ticket includes supplies and one cocktail of your choice. Check availability before booking, then prepare to show off your spooky-sweet creations.

🚗 Worth the Drive

📍 Saint Louis Art Museum, 1 Fine Arts Drive, St. Louis, MO 63110
🕐 Saturday, October 17 · 1–2 PM

Art can be a feast for the eyes, but what happens when the subject is something you can’t see? This free guided tour at the Saint Louis Art Museum explores how artists capture scents, from lovely fragrances to decidedly less pleasant smells. It’s an unexpected way to look at art—and a fun change of pace from the usual museum visit.
