👋 What’s Up Wentzville!
Good morning! Mother’s Day weekend is here, which means this is your friendly reminder that moms do, in fact, know when you bought the gift at the last possible second.
Thankfully, the local event calendar is doing a lot of heavy lifting this week.
There are Mother’s Day markets for the “I totally planned this” crowd, brunches for anyone hoping pancakes count as a love language, a charity fest in Cottleville, a fantasy ball in Wentzville, car shows, live music, and even a bald eagle making an appearance next week.
So whether you’re celebrating Mom, avoiding yard work, or just looking for an excuse to leave the house, there’s plenty going on.
Let’s get into it. 👇

A quick note from me:
Elite actually replaced our 20-year-old AC and furnace, and they did a flawless job. They communicated incredibly well from start to finish, the install was smooth, and our house felt like new afterward. Which is saying something when Missouri decides to test every temperature setting in the same week. 😅
So if you’re needing anything from a seasonal tune-up to a whole new HVAC system, I can personally say they’re worth reaching out to.

You know those places that make you say, “Wait… this has been here the whole time?”
This is one of those.
Tucked into the rolling hills of Missouri wine country in Defiance is The Historic Daniel Boone Home, and it feels a little like stepping into a Missouri history book, except with better scenery and fewer pop quizzes.
The home was built in 1800 by Daniel Boone’s youngest son, Nathan Boone, and Daniel Boone lived there with his family for many of his later years.

Which means yes, this is not just a “Daniel Boone once walked nearby and someone put up a sign” situation.
This was actually home.
The property sits on nearly 300 acres overlooking the Femme Osage Valley, and it includes the historic Boone home, village grounds, and a collection of 19th-century buildings that were moved to the site from within about 50 miles of the park.
There’s a general store, a schoolhouse, a grist mill, and other buildings that help recreate what frontier life in Missouri may have looked like in the early 1800s.

Basically, it’s the kind of place where your kids might accidentally learn something while thinking they’re just exploring old buildings.
The park grounds and village are free to enter, and you can walk around the outside of the Boone Home and village buildings on a self-guided tour during park hours.
If you want to tour the inside of the Boone Home, guided tours are available for a fee. Those tours include the three-level home, and when staffing allows, guests may also be able to see a few of the village buildings as part of the tour.
The site also hosts living history events, artisan demonstrations, school field trips, and seasonal programs throughout the year, so it’s worth checking the calendar before you go.
And honestly, it’s just a beautiful spot to wander for a bit.

Historic buildings, quiet hills, Missouri history, and the kind of view that makes you feel like you should suddenly know how to churn butter.
Not saying you have to.
Just saying the setting is persuasive.
