👋 What’s Up Wentzville!
Good morning! Flea market season is officially back in Wentzville.
Which means somewhere this Sunday, someone is going to buy a perfectly good lamp for $5…
…and someone else is going to try to sell a VCR like it’s a collector’s item.
It’s a delicate ecosystem.
And if flea markets aren’t your thing, this week also has a big grand opening drawing a crowd in O’Fallon, a giant outdoor movie night here in Wentzville, and the official return of shaved ice season 🍧
Alright — here’s what’s happening around Wentzville 👇

🥨 A slice of Germany… 20 minutes from Wentzville
You know those places that feel a little out of place… in a good way?
This is one of those.
If you’ve ever driven out toward New Melle, you’ve probably noticed it feels different out there.
That’s not by accident.
New Melle was settled by German immigrants in the 1800s, and somehow it’s held onto that identity longer than most towns around here. Small, quiet, a little tucked away… and full of spots that don’t feel like anywhere else nearby.
One of them is Bavarian Smoke Haus.
And if you didn’t know it was there, you could drive right past it without thinking twice.

But inside is something pretty specific.
This isn’t a modern deli trying to feel old-school.
It just… is.
They specialize in smoked meats—things like bacon, bratwurst, ham, and a full lineup of deli options. The kind of place where everything is made to be simple, filling, and done right.
You’ll see:
🥓 house-smoked bacon and meats
🌭 German-style sausages and bratwurst
🥪 deli sandwiches made fresh at the counter

And the menu isn’t trying to reinvent anything. It leans into what it is.
Which is probably why people keep going back.
There’s also a pretty cool local story behind it.
The owner, Jim Joerling, was inducted into the Missouri Meat Processors Hall of Fame—which tells you this isn’t just a random stop… it’s someone who’s been doing this at a high level for a long time.

But honestly, the part that stands out most is the feel of the place.
It’s not polished.
It’s not trendy.
It feels like something that’s been there for years… because it has.
And somehow it fits perfectly with New Melle itself—a town that hasn’t rushed to change with everything else around it which, in today’s world, is kind of refreshing.
If you’re already heading out that way, it’s an easy stop.
If you’re not…

Quick Question…
🏆 Let’s settle the age-old debate… What’s the best St. Louis pro team?

That’s everything for this week.
If you found something helpful, feel free to share this with a friend—that’s how this keeps growing (and how we get to do fun stuff like birthday shoutouts 🎉).
And if you ever come across an event, business, or something interesting around town… just reply and let me know. I read every message.
If you want to get your business in front of 2,000+ local readers, just reply to this email and I’ll send over details.
Have a great week,
Skyler
