👋 What’s Up Wentzville!

Good morning! Consider this your friendly warning that Mother’s Day is next Saturday.

Not in two days. Saturday the 10th.

Not “oh no, it’s today?” territory yet.

But definitely close enough that “I’ll figure something out later” is starting to become a risky strategy.

Luckily, this weekend is giving everyone a chance to get ahead of it. You’ve got the Sale Trail happening all weekend, the Mother’s Day Craft & Vendor Event on Sunday, and the Saint Charles Farmers Market kicking off its season with plenty of local goodies.

And if your Mother’s Day planning requires a short break to go pet a baby goat…

Meyer Mini Farms has you covered.

Here’s what’s happening around Wentzville this week 👇

🌟 A Hidden Gem

Cuivre River State Park is one of those places that makes you double-check your GPS and wonder how you’re still this close to home.

Because it doesn’t really feel like northern Missouri.

It feels more like someone took a piece of the Ozarks and set it just outside Troy.

There are wooded hills, limestone bluffs, quiet trails, open grasslands, and more than 6,400 acres to explore when you need to feel like you actually went somewhere.

Without, you know, actually going that far.

And that’s kind of the magic of it.

One minute you’re driving past normal local roads.

Then suddenly you’re crossing into this rugged, wooded park that feels a little more wild than expected.

Cuivre River has more than 45 miles of trails for hiking, backpacking, biking, and horseback riding.

You’ll find:

🥾 wooded hiking trails
🐴 horseback riding trails
🎣 fishing at Lake Lincoln
🏖️ swimming during the warmer months
🛶 boating and quiet lake views
🌿 native grasslands, savannas, and woodlands

One of the best-known spots is Frenchman’s Bluff.

It’s the kind of overlook that makes you stop for a second and go, “Wait… this is up here?”

The park also has a surprising amount of history tucked into it.

A lot of the roads, bridges, picnic shelters, and group camp buildings were built during the New Deal era by the Civilian Conservation Corps and Works Progress Administration.

So it’s not just trees and trails.

There’s a whole layer of old Missouri history sitting underneath it.

And honestly, that’s part of what makes the park feel different.

It’s not polished in a fancy way.

It’s not trying to be some big tourist attraction.

It just feels rugged, quiet, and a little removed from everything.

The kind of place where you can go for a quick afternoon reset…

Or accidentally turn it into a half-day trip because everyone keeps saying, “Let’s just see what’s down this trail.”

There’s also Lake Lincoln, which makes it a solid warm-weather spot for fishing, swimming, boating, or packing a lunch and pretending you’re outdoorsy for a few hours.

No judgment. That absolutely counts.

If you want something close, easy, and genuinely pretty, Cuivre River is a good one to keep in your back pocket.

It’s close enough to be practical.

But wild enough to make your brain believe you disappeared for a while.

Quick Question…

That’s it for this week!

Whether you’re shopping the Sale Trail, getting a head start on Mother’s Day, wandering a farmers market, or using the petting zoo as your emotional support stop for the weekend…
